Editorial” ■i The students of Berlin High have good reason to agree that the con- struction of its addition was a “blessed event”, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the far-sighted citizens of Berlin who made it possible. We feel certain that it will prove to be a great asset to the community by helping to better educate its youth. The bigger and more modern facilities broadened our horizons and made possible a number of events. We were hosts to a basketball tourna- ment, two music tournaments, and a home show. The larger gymnasium facilitated a bigger prom, and better staging for the class play. The new classrooms and library not only relieved congestion, but provided more cheerful class surroundings. Truly, our first year in the new addition was an eventful one and it is my hope that the MASCOUTIN has reviewed and recaptured some of the big moments of this past year. ”In Memoriam Jeanette and George Wentland IN MEMORY The staff of the 1956 Mascoutin feels that it is fitting that its year- book should pay tribute to two students who might have shared in and been a part of the many activities which are reviewed in this book. Jeanette and George Wentland, victims of the fatal polio epidemic that struck during the summer of 1955, would have been members of the freshman class this year. Those who knew George and Jean will certainly miss having them to share their high school activities. We are sure that these two students would have been an important asset to our high school.
