Text from Pages 1 - 168 of the 1988 volume:

-Dear Mom and Dad, We, the class of 1988, have made a decision to dedicate our yearbook to our ' parents. Our parents have played such a major role in our growth and development that ' they deserve to be thanked openly. They have provided for us, supported us, guided us, and directed us in the right paths especially through our years at Berlin High. These past four years have been crucial to our development towards adulthood, and because our parents are experienced adults, they know how to advise and lead us. Whether it was with Band Parents, Boosters, or “Mums for Moms,’ our parents have shown they care by getting involved. Their attendance at concerts, games, and awards ceremonies has not gone unnoticed and we would like to say — THANKS! [. Even if our moms and dads just helped us with homework or picked us up from school, they took time out from their busy schedules for us. Surely there were times when we- forgot to thank them or perhaps even yelled at them, but they were still there for us. Simply knowing that they are there makes the tough times go a little easier. Since birth, each of us has undergone a great number of changes, and a large portion of these changes have occurred since we entered Berlin High as freshmen. Now, as seniors, we still have thousands of new decisions to make, and we will continue to change throughout our lives. We have all been in school for the past thirteen years, and leaving the safety of Berlin High is a big step. However, our parents will still b( there to support us and aim us in the right direction. We probably cannot thank them enough for all that they have done for us, but hopefully someday we will be able to help ; -them. Thank you, moms and dads ... for EVERYTHING!! 2 DEDICATION Our Parents A group of parents show enthusiasm at a BHS football game. Larry Mong “What time is Boosters ' ? GO! GO! GO! Pie eating contest? Spirit Week 1987 From Monday, September 14th to Friday, Sep- tember 18th, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike showed great enthusiasm during Spirit Week. Each class dressed accordingly on Color Day, Cartoon Day, Theme Day, and Sports Day. The Pep Rally, one of the final activities of the week, began with the introduction of the fall sports teams. Following the introductions, the band, drill team, color guard and cheerleaders performed. For the first time in BHS history, the freshman class received the trophy for hallway decorations. After a hard fought battle against the sophomores in the tug-of-war, the seniors emerged the victors. The class of ’88 was also victorious in the pie- eating contest and spirit competitions. A huge turnout of students at the Spirit Dance, Friday night, and the varsity football team’s 12-0 blowout over Foram, Saturday afternoon, were the climax of a wild and memory-filled week. Tedeschi Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Paul Violette Mr. and Mrs. Paul Virostek Mr. and Mrs. David R. Weisel Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wotkiewich ADVERTISEMENTS 173 174 LAMP THE 1988 LAMP STAFF The 1988 yearbook staff began in September putting together a complete memory of the past four years. None of us was too sure about just what we were getting into. But, as a group, we came together, decided on a theme and dedication, and got to work. We hope that in one way or another we have been able to capture a moment or two of everyone’s high school days. WE THANK ALL OF THOSE who helped in one way or another, especially Monika Liss, Cheri Wilson, Mary Ruta, Kathy Arute, Lori D’Amore, Chis Chutkowski, Donna Heslin, Karen Chiemlewski, and Caryn Oldziey. Amy Swanson — Editor-in-Chief Karen Drake — Photography Editor LAMP 175 The Yearbook Staff would like to thank our business advisor, Mr. Pasco, and our literary advisor, Mrs. O’Brien for all their help this year. Their guidance and support are what helped this yearbook to be such a success. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Christopher Wolfe for his photography. 176 END
