Business Ttic Business Department has enjoyed a smooth year, with no changes in staff. A new business club was formed this year to expose students to the business community through guest speakers and field trips, with staff advisors Mrs. Valentino and Mrs. Trider. Accounting and Typing I are the departments most popular courses, and department head Mr. Jeffrey Miller attributes this to a student desire for job training. Mr. Miller sums up this year's department goal, “We want to build up our word processor and computer training programs to provide the keyboard skills needed in the new job market. Social Studies The History Department has maintained an excellent curriculum this year despite budget cuts. There are four full-time teachers and two part-time teachers in the department. Ancient and Medieval History continues to be an extremely popular subject with freshmen and Sociology is popular with the upperclassmen. U.S. History is required of all students in their junior year. Department Head Mr. Edward Goodrow states the departmental philosophy, “we intend to provide the students with a better understanding, appreciation, and perspective of the United States and Western Civilizations.
