Science The Science Department has enjoyed a busy year, with changes in staff, curriculum and a potpourri of lectures, symposiums and field trips. Mr. Elligator left the department for a pre-doctoral fellowship at Yale University, and Mr. Robert Rainwater has taken over in the physics classes. The department has added a UConn cooperative college credit advanced chemistry course, a full year technical chemistry course and an astronomy course. Social Studies The History Department has maintained an excellent curriculum this year despite budget cuts. There are four full-time teachers and two part-time teachers in the department. Ancient and Medieval History continues to be an extremely popular subject with freshmen and Sociology is popular with the upperclassmen. U.S. History is required of all students in their junior year. Department Head Mr. Edward Goodrow states the departmental philosophy, “we intend to provide the students with a better understanding, appreciation, and perspective of the United States and Western Civilizations.
