To The Graduating Class of 1968: Young people are demanding freedom. The dimensions and charac- teristics of this demand have caused it to be labeled a youth movement. Like a number of the youth movements in modern history, the present one is provoking much national concern. On the surface, this concern appears to be related to long hair, L.S.D.. love beads, demonstrations, and draft card burning. A more penetrating analysis should reveal that the concern is related to the un- willingness of young people to accept real liberty in the shape of their lives. Real liberty requires that those who enjoy it accept full accountability for their mistakes. The present youth movement has rejected this re- quirement. You are confronted with the challenge to launch a new movement characterized by the restoration of those invariant virtues that strengthen society. The Class of 1968 offers strong hearts and hands to the task. Sincerely, Robert P. Long Principal 3
