LAMP To every life there is a beginning and an end knit together by a series of dramatic events. And so it is with high school life. We, the Editors, are presenting a panorama composed individual stories, each one unique. Yet, unlike many, our stories do not end in this book. For most, the greater plot is still to be written. of THE EDITORS Mrs. Evelyn Bernetich DEDICATION The success of our class lies in the efforts of not one advisor, but two. As a small token of our appreciation, we, the Class of 1965, dedicate this volume of the LAMP to Mrs. Evelyn Bernetich and Mr. Edward Vater. Recognition must also be given to Miss Sandra Goldfarb, who contri- buted to us invaluable talent and en- thusiasm, spurring us on to a spirited Senior year. Mr. Edward Vater 2 George W. Bountress Superintendent of Schools Among the thoughts of a senior class as it looks ahead at Commencement are those which have to do with its claim for uniqueness. What is that special something that sets the Class of 1965 apart from its predecessors? One class, as it pondered its existence, defined the con- ditions of the time complex. A later class sought to analyze the complexity, and a third discovered that young people were searching for values at a time when value systems appeared to be competing with one another. In all three cases, young people were aware of change. Whether by a metamorphic sequence or not, the Class of 1 965 has discovered the basic and essential ingredient for producing and coping with change— a soundly oriented action process. It has chosen a greater share of the respon- sibility for and consequences of its ' conduct. It feels that it must justify more clearly and convincingly the faith and re- spect of those from whom it seeks these judgments. This is the uniqueness of the Class of 1965. It is with a great measure of pride and faith in you that we extend best wishes for your future. Robert P. Long ROBERT P.
