Will ne'er depart from you. Through the Seasons The Class of 1947 Hof- Berlin-Brothersoalley High School B eiflin, Pennsylvania --lD7 6S677fS--' The Beroalon Through the Seasons We Dedicate Om' Berwzlon to Mr. james M. Cassel Our new supervising principal comes to us this year from Portage, Pennsylvania. Mr. Cassel has shown great interest in all activities around our school through the seasonsg and we wish to show our gratitude by dedi- cating our 1947 Bervalon to him. To us, the class of 1947, as well as the other classes in Berlin-Brothersvalley High School, Mr. Cassel has con- stantly been a source of inspiration to do our best in classes, as well as activities. 4 i.-.-tfayyffeo, .fffewizfrf-muff-Pais? A. . l . K A 1 gf ' V . X. -, , RACHEL ANN MILLER SYDNEY BRANT Editor-in-Chief Business Manager Through the Seasons The Editor Greets You As a theme for our 1947 Bervalon we have chosen Seasonal Activities. We wish to show to you, our readers, the many different activities going on during the year. Our aim in school, we all know, is to procure an educationg but as a relaxation from our studies and tests we may enjoy and participate in these activities. They not only furnish entertainment but also educate in many ways. For example, from our class plays and operetta we learn some of the fundamental rules in working on a stage. Our various clubs teach us health, science, journalism, and appreciation of worthwhile literature and good music. Although we thinktof our basketball and football games mainly as a pleasure, we are really being taught sportsmanship. To be able to get along with people in the world today, we must have a tolerant, sympathetic outlook toward constructive living. We feel that through our activities in our schools we are coming closer to this goal. 5 Through the Seasons The Bervalon Surveys Administration Classes Activities Music Athletics Advertisements I Through the Seasons ThwAdmMmwubmz Lamklk nr, ' :SEB W T X .1 4 1 jg J H Q5 ln- 'X 1 , 4..,,.,, , 1 Ike ,ff S N ...--' f1 'F . Grade School Faculty We have come a long way since our grade school days, but not one of us has forgotten them. There will always be a warm feeling when we think of the kind teacher who took us under her wing that HISI day, when we felt so frightened. We passed from grade to grade and finally that big day came when we were fourth graders. We were thrilled to move to the second floor and exchange classes. Those of us who could sing joined Miss Saylor's Chorus. How we looked forward to the Christmas Operettas and, later on, to May Day! When we reached fourth and fifth grades our studies grew more varied. Sub- jects we never heard of before, we began to master, such as science, geography, and health. A bigger thrill came when we were promoted to the sixth grade in the big school building. - 22 Eleventh Gm e GIRLS Rou' 1: Geraldine Landis, Virginia Bender, Dolores Yoder, Freda Mankamyer, Doris Saylor, Anna Mae John- son, janet Smith, Phyllis Zorn, Dolores Bockes, Helen Fogle, Helen Long, Margaret Trulick, Shirley Stahl.
