Dean of Student's Message The one indispensable element of a college is the student. Colleges and and universities are created for him. But just what is a student, anyway? ls he only a person who studies? Some do diligently - others don't very much. It seems to me that essential in a student is a kind of spirit. This shows itself in enthusiasm, curiosity, eagerness, dedication, vociferousness - a blend of attitudes which reveal the student as one being really alive! Many students today seem to be rebellious, cynical, negatively oriented in and against society, and interested in anything but being truly educated. It is not so here at Berkshire. The difference? Christ! We are thankful that here we have Christian students - ones who rea- lize that the curriculum, the varied activities, and the policies of the college have been developed over the years by dedicated people to enable young people to grow rapidly toward maturity and the realization of their chosen goals of Christian service.
