Qianding ovaiion Fall produciion wows audience The green velvety curtain closed; a sudden roar rushed through the auditorium of Berkner High School as attendants at the production joined in a standing ovation. This was the final scene of the fall musical, The Sound of Music, put on by the drama (Jepartment. Matt Ceryes who played Herr Zeller said, Although in Oscar and Rick ' s The Sound of Music problems were encountered; such as a deadly flu epidemic that threatened to obliterate the drama department, the play was a total success. In our opinion it was the best musical Berkner has ever produced. Captain Von Trapp, Maria, Mother Abyss, and Leisel were a few of the main characters presented in the musical. Stephen Springfield, who played Captain Von Trapp, portrayed his character virtually flawlessly. As Maria, Missy Gonzalez exhibited the qualities of a caring nanny; further- more, the audience enjoyed her per- formance. Stacey Parry ' s representa- tion of Mother Abyss created an understanding of Maria which caused a renewal of confidence in her by everyone. Leisel, the lovable young lady who was portrayed by Kelley Gilland, demonstrated good acting techniques as well. lodie Thompson, a member of the Drama Club said, The Sound of Music production has not only been a learn- ing experience, but also an exciting time. Consequently, the performance was one of Berkner ' s best productions and was enjoyed by everyone who attended. Senior Follies is the largest fund raising event for the Senior Prom in May. The Follies not only provided needed funds, but were enjoyed by everyone who participated in them. The acts that were viewed in the Follies included serious drama; such as, Lend a Hand, performed by Gretchen Wade, which stressed the feelings of a suicide victim. Other acts focused on humor; such as, Newclear Waste. Derek Daniel of Newclear Waste says, 1 feel the Senior Follies was a fun ex- perience and I think we put on a good show. Introducing the acts for the two evenings were Steve Andersen and Mike Fabbri. At the conclusion of the Follies Andersen said, I thought that the Follies were a great experience, and a good way for the seniors to get involved. A senior attendant at the Follies, Lin- da Flamic stated, ! felt the Senior Follies was really an entertaining show. They did a really good job representing the Senior Class. Surprised by her fellow classmates, Brigitta Morrow says, I had a lot of fun at the Follies. I didn ' t know we had so many talented seniors at Berkner. Once again Senior Follies was a smashing success, and a major fund raiser for the Senior Class. Precision dancing — Senior Bandolera member: perlorm an eyecatching dance routine 14 Senior Follies
