li ' s iradifion Homecoming creaies siudeni enthusiasm Smiling pretty — Senior nominee Cretchen Wade enjov the pre-game Homecoming activities Many events led up to the Homecoming game and dance which are the climax of the Homecoming week each year. For example, on Oc- tober 12, lunior Princess and Sophomore Duchess were announced at the Friday pep rally. The Queen was crowned during the pre-game ac- tivities. After the announcement was made, the Queen and her court were chauffeured around the field in lux- urious convertibles. Tracy Sutton was selected as Homecoming Queen for the 1984-85 school year. Chosen as members of her court were Carey Cheshier as lunior Princess and Christin Holloway as Sophomore Duchess. Homecoming events officially started on October 9 when spirit week began. During spirit week students dressed in designated garb for each day to express their school spirit. On Tuesday students wore college T- shirts. Students dressed up as nerds on Wednesday to symbolize Richard- son High School ' s student body. To signify RIH ' s death, students wore black on Thursday. Friday was annual green and white day. Berkner students dressed in Ram school colors to show their school enthusiasm before the game. Nevertheless, the final score of the game was Richardson 22, Berkner 17. At the conclusion of the week. Homecoming Queen Tracy Sutton said, I cannot believe it happened to me; this is one of my childhood dreams. Nervous anticipation — Nominees for Homecoming Queen Alice Mendith, Tracy Sutton, and Cretchen Wade await the announcement with their fathers. Waiting for a ride — Sophomore Duchess nominees Candie Barry and Ashley Bullington wait for the traditional ride around the field. 10 Homecoming
