J. y. Goes to Corpus Made up of ninth and tenth grade students, the Junior Varsity Choir partici- pated in many activities during the 1975-76 year. These students were selected by audition last spring. Their prime directive this year was to raise money to go to Corpus Christi for the Buccaneer Music Festival. The JV Choir had the same money making projects as the A ' Cappella Choir. The choirs combined their enthusiasm to make the projects a success. The Junior Varsity Choir joined with the A ' Cappella on all concerts. They usu- ally sang a joint finale, which was a real audience pleaser. They also participated in caroling and the all-district Messiah performance. Later in the year, the Junior Varsity Choir also competed in UIL Choir Competition. The Junior Varsity Choir officers for 1975-76 were; President — Mike Elrod, Vice President — Angle Relder, Secretary — Diane Ansley, Treasurer — Rhonda Grounds. The choir is made up of sopho- mores, juniors, and seniors. This year ' s choir was chosen by auditions held at the end of last year. The choir participated in many activities during the 1975-76 year, beginning with the High School Choir Festival in October. Also in October, the choir held their formal fall concert at the Greenville Avenue Auditorium. In December, Berkner joined with the other three Richard- son High Schools to perform Handel ' s Messiah. They went Christmas caroling at Northpark and at the Citizen ' s Bank Mall. They ended their 1975 season with their Christmas Concert. 1976 was an even busier year for the choir. In February they presented their Spring Concert followed by UIL competition at Lake Highlands High School. In April the Choral Depart- ment presented the musical Damn Yankees. In May, the choir traveled to Florida to compete in the Choral Festival at Disneyworld, then pre- sented their Pop Concert. To finance their trip to Disney- world, the choir sold ads, calendars, caramel corn, popcorn, family tickets, and candles. They also held the third annual choir rock-a-thon. The officers for the 75-76 year were President — Glenn Garrett, Vice President — Jim Hamilton, Secretary — Kim Wright, Treasurer — Chris Reed, Hist. — Lori Harris, and Lib. — Cathy Norman. L 211
