With budget cuts made in response to Proposition 2Vi , you saw some educational programs dropped or cut back. In addition, the entire extra-curricular activity schedule was eliminated. Increased class loads did not allow teachers the time to sponsor the yearbook or the Gong Show,. In spite of all these limitations, the programs we did offer you were of high quality. Your three years at Berkley Junior High School have been successful ones. With this educational preparation, we hope that you can take advantage of the many opportunities offered to young people. Most of you will lead ordinary, unheralded lives. Yet each of you have a sphere of influence and yours efforts will contribute to the future of our society. Your future will be determined by the goals that you set and by the fields that you choose for your lives. I sincerely hope that you continue your education in order to lead fuller lives. You also will not find the time to do all that you’d like to do, but try to budget your time so that you can make some effort to help others live. Congratulations! I wish you success in the future.
