This is to prepare the student to become a competent ,itizen. In doing so, a well rounded understanding of his social, political, and economic environment, knowledge of the factors and influences that brought it about, and a true concept of democratic aims and individual responsibilities, are provided for him to lead toward a continuance of the American way of life. The field of social studies includes: Orientation, Civics, World History, Geography, American History, American Government, Economics, Soci- ology, and Contemporary History, all necessary to the comprehension of our modern society . As the world continues to progress, it is imperative that tolerance and understanding also expand.
