We Salute The James Rumsey Vocational-Technical Center The James Rumsey Vocational-Technical Center has been named in honor of 4 James Rumsey, a former resident of Berkeley Springs and Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The center serves Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.

The fact that work on the yearbook has been completed reminds me that I am nearing the comple- tion of my first year as principal of Berkeley Springs High School. I believe this has been a good year, and it has been made so largely by the cooperation I have received from the student body. I have been pleased with the fact that the school atmosphere has been such that students and staff can talk over differences rather than fight over them. I appreciate this attitude and believe it reflects a spirit of interest and cooperation that is essential for success not only in school but in our present society. I congratulate the seniors for their past achievements and offer best wishes for continued success in meeting the challenges of our space-age culture. You will have to function in a society that is beset with great social problems and conflicts. Success in this endeavor will be determined largely by the ability to work rationally and cooperatively with individuals and groups for the purpose of devising mutually satisfactory solutions to these common problems. Your class, I believe, has demonstrated this capacity to do so. I urge the underclassmen to continue to cooperate with the administration and faculty to assure con- tinued progress for our high school. 6
