Mrs. Blanche Dawson will be with us in the office for more years of faithful service, but Mr. Harry Henry retired this year and his presence will be missed. MRS. BLANCHE DAWSON Whose aid has been indispensable. MR. HARRY HENRY For twenty years of faithful service. Congratulations Class of 1967 Twelve years ago, you, the class of 1967, began your education. The elementary phase of this training seems remote to you now. Today, 1967, the missile age offers a real challenge to you. In the vital part of your life in your com- munity, I hope that you will persevere in the fields of science, business, arts, and education. In your life here at Berkeley Springs High School you have been taught that no real achievements are attained except through merit, service and achievement. I know that as students in this school you have been taught these lessons in self reliance. Emerson says: “Believe in your own thought; believe that which is true for you in your own private heart, is true for all men.” 6 Fred P. Wells The Thread That Runs So True was dramatized by Reginald Lawrence from the book by Jesse Stuart. The setting took place in a one room school in the Kentucky Mountains. Jesse Stuart, a young Kentucky farm boy, portrayed by Steve Allemong, decides at the age of eighteen, and after three years of high school, that he should begin his teaching career. His first job takes him about thirty miles from his home to Lonesome Valley Rural Schoolhouse. Jesse is faced with many problems. The schoolhouse itself was badly in need of repairs as it hadn't been used for years. Serving as the last teacher was a cousin of Jesse's who left after he had been beaten up by one of his students. Rven with these odds, Jesse was determined to succeed in proving the value of an education to the people of Lonesome Valley and his ability as a teacher. 50 TENTH GRADE SOPHOMORES CLASS SPONSORS: Donald Fearaow, Margaret Starnes, Chester Morris, Mary Harris, John Conley.
