It requires an enormous amount of planning and work by the Annual Staff and the Advisor. This 1961-62 Annual has been in preparation since early last spring. The work has mainly been done on Saturdays and after school hours. Many night sessions have gone into the late hours. For such a sacrifice of time and effort the staff and advisor deserve the thanks of every Lstudent in Berkeley Springs High School. They have worked that you might enjoy this publication. Its greatest value to you will come twenty or piirty or more years from now. Handle your jok with care. That's what they said when we landed on the moon for our 19 72 reunion. Land- ing was only half the trouble. Locating the class members was the biggest trouble. Once located, we started our journey. We left Berkeley Springs with the following local resi- dents: Judith Potter and Linda Hovermale, tea- chers at B. S. H. S., Wayne Sherrard, business manager at Cacapon State Park, Sammy Hanlon, contractor to finish 522 between Berkeley Springs and Hancock, and Judy Henry, Vern Davison, and Ronnie Lee Grove, who have been making their homes here since their marriages in 1962. Charles Lutman, coach for the Baltimore Colts, also boarded in Berkeley Springs. Frist Stop! Washington, D. C. Here eagerly waiting to board the Golden Bluebird , built by Dick McCoy, was Kenny Miller, General of the United States Army. Others waiting with the gen- eral were Portia Bernhard, Brenda Sherrard, and Darlene Silvers, hostesses for the trip, and Judy Everett, operator of Washington's most promi- nent beauticulture school with her receptionist, Linda Hiles. As the pilot, Lee Aulabaugh, sounded the blast off signal we heard a cry from out side. Henrietta Bohrer, co-pilot, opened the door to the always late Betty Jo Clark, now a nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. Then off to New York City. We stopped here to pick up Ricky Johnson of Johnson and Johnson Lawyers Firm and his pri- vate secretary, Rose Anne McKinley. Heading west our first stop was Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, where Phil Stotler, Ike Gur- son, Grafton Apple, and Paul Fox came aboard. We were sorry to learn that Lloyd Farris and Billy Albanese would be unable to attend because of overseas duty. Next stop, California. Waiting for us were Ronnie Sue Ruppenthal, Larry Mullin, Roger Spriggs, and Carol Young, professors at U. C. L. A., Judy Butts, Hilda Cain, and Joyce Michael, secretaries at Hogbin's Cabinet Company, owned and operated by Wayne Hogbin, and Sam Shade owner of California's largest trade school. After leaving California we journeyed to Hawaii where we found Mark Dawson, owner of the Sea Foam Cafe, and his private secretary, Shirley Everhart, Paul Mason, owner of a pine- apple plantation, Pauline Pumphrey, Carol and Connie Stotler, members of the women's service and Mark Swaim, manager of Safeway Stores, Inc. Roger Pritchard was on a business trip for Honolulu Steel and was unable to attend the reunion. Our journey now takes us to the planet Mars. Leaving our ship with Walter French, mechanic at Mars Station, we traveled overland to meet Ray Hewett, head of the F. B. I. on Mars, and his pri- vate secretary, Penny Sue Dawson at the home of Betty McBee, formerly Betty Unger. From there we drove to the Red House, where we picked up Steve Hoofnagle, President of Mars, and his pri- vate receptionist, Anne Henry. From there we went to the Mars Speedway to find Donnie Barn- hart, driver of an 88-V racer. Others meeting us at the speedway were Charles Whisner, Col. from Fort Dix, New Jersey, John McClintock, carpenter, and Irene Weber, private secretary. We piled into Donnie's 88-V and headed for town. Our first stop in town was at the Lyn and Lou Beauty Salon, owned and operated by Sandy Henry and Lynda Clark. Here we found Linda Braithwaite, private secretary, having her hair done. Heading toward Mars University to pick up professors Sondra Avella and Linda Lineaweaver, we stopped at Mars Co. Hospital to talk with Glendora Shriver, head nurse. While at the hos- pital we tried to phone the Mechanical Works President, Ray Henry, and his secretary, Ruth Woods, and ended up talking with Dolly Poole and Emily Rhoe, telephone operators at the Mars ex- change. Upon leaving Mars we journeyed to Venus. Here we visited at the home of Faye Farris Roach where she and a neighbor, Billy Swaim were lis- tening to a talk given by Monna Lea Mechem, Home Demonstrator. Next we went to the Venus Var, a playhouse on broadway, where we were greeted by actresses Barbara Johnson and Sally Arnold. Later we met their personal clothing de- signer, Shirley Barnhart, and Sylvia Hewett, hair stylist. Here we also met Gloria Robertson Henry, Publicity agent, and Alice Farris, director of Farris Phones, Inc. At the home of Cheryl Golden Demosky we found her watching Roger Barney, professional basketball player on T. V. We stayed long enough to be informed by the newscast that James Potter, owner of Venus Chain Stores, had sold out to Roxy Stotler, multi-millionaire. Roxy's secretary, Nancy Mason, gave an up-to-date report on his business experiences. Everyone was informed that the Golden Bluebird would take off for the moon in fifteen minutes. Three hours latter we arrived on the moon to be greeted by Linda Sanders, famous band leader. Linda directed us to the scene of the banquet, the Kozy Korner Kitchen's owned by Pauline Gross. There we met Robert Mechem, General of the moon forces and his private secre- tary, Mavoureen Zeilor. Mary Margaret Weber, head of nurses at Mary's Mission Hospital and Mary Rankin, assistant nurse, were there also. Everyone was glad to be together again. We talked over old times and brought each other up-to-date on our personal happenings through the years. It was an enjoyable week for all and everyone dreaded saying good-bye. It was quite a successful reunion and we agreed to meet again in 1982.
