Young Talent Abounds The girls had a good but frustrating season. Most of the games they lost were lost by only one run. One game that clearly showed their skill and spirit was a game early in the season against the Academy. i Though Berkeley trailed by three runs, they scored seven runs in the last inning to win. Although the team will miss its four seniors, there definitely exists strong young talent. Freshman Pam Smith was good in the outfield and Laurie Burton played third base in the second half of the season. Another freshman leanie Barrow, who had never played softball, did very Well as a starter at second base. We can expect her to be great in the future! Sophomore Denise Robinson and junior Leslie Verkauf were honored as all-conference players. I wonder if Kim stole my 7-Up again Leslie Frost will send it out of the park .H Laurie does a tap dance before touching the plate

Team Effort Leads To Success Golt is the sport ot an individual, but it was team ettort that brought about such a successful season tor the 1986 Bucs. Senior Bill Diercksen provided the leadership needed to till all three places on the All-Conference team. The individuals chosen were Scott Pieper, Clay Thomas, and Todd Seeley, who all helped their team conquer the Bay-Conference championship. Proving themselves successful against lA competition, the Bucs went on to challenge larger schools. They beat 3A Gaither and lost a close match to 4A Leto. Many from the remaining team will spend their summers on the greens in preparation tor an even better Season next spring.
