This year the Students Against Starvation in Africa formed in response to the famine in Ethiopia. Our purpose was to help find a solution to the crisis. The club had a goal to earn $5000. The group was divided into three groups. The Finance Committee researched different organizations to determine which would send the first $500 through UNICEF. The Outreach Program contacts groups in other schools, writes letters to organizations, and sends off the money. The Graphic ' Arts Committee de- signed the letter heads for letter forms and drew signs. The club managed to have several fundraisers. We set up donation tables in the courtyard. The participation of students and the outcome of the first donation table were pleasingly surprising. We passed out some literature about Ethiopia ' s situation. In the attempt to inform others, we gained invalu- able knowledge ourselves. STUDENTS A6AINST STARVATION IN Af WCA 1. Front Row: Rachel Luft, Sarah Rosner, Eva, El ke Glendenning, Chrissy Heuris. ■■■■■■I NIVTURG COMSSRVIMION HIKING CLUB The conservation and hiking club is a natural conglomerate of unnatural people with a naturally conservative approach to natural problems. Although in some ways as for instance the observation of treefrogs and newt commu- nication, the club is more progressive than some. It all began during the Pleistocene. Who knows when it will end. On one trip to Mt. Shasta , every one of our vehicles got pulled over by the CHP (Fascist Bastards!), and given a citation. Then we got snowed in. That was the weekend that some guy died up there. We had a grand time recreating the Donner party barbecue. 1. ' Uh guys,... there ' s someth ing crawling tip my shirt. ' 2. ' What ' s going on in there? ' 3.
