SCI6MCG CLUB The Science Club was founded so that the students at Berkeley High would have a chance to exllore all the different aspects of science in one club. The purpose of the Science Club is to inform students on recent issues in science. Each member has the responsibility to bring an article or some artifact concerining science so that he or she may share this information with other club members. The club also provides information on science-related scholorships, competitions, and projects. Lecturers and field trips make the club even more interesting because the members are able to meet people who are either involved in research or who have up-to-date information. 1. This year the Students Against Starvation in Africa formed in response to the famine in Ethiopia. Our purpose was to help find a solution to the crisis. The club had a goal to earn $5000. The group was divided into three groups. The Finance Committee researched different organizations to determine which would send the first $500 through UNICEF. The Outreach Program contacts groups in other schools, writes letters to organizations, and sends off the money. The Graphic ' Arts Committee de- signed the letter heads for letter forms and drew signs. The club managed to have several fundraisers. We set up donation tables in the courtyard. The participation of students and the outcome of the first donation table were pleasingly surprising. We passed out some literature about Ethiopia ' s situation.
