Strongly supported by the students of BHS, the athletic teams demonstrated their abilities and endurance in many interscholastic games played throughout the years. Defeating their primary opponent, Oakland High School, was always a great triumph for the players. The rallys not only demonstrated the spirit of the school but unified the students as well. Another way to keep the school united was the Tuesday Assembly where everyone gathered for a twenty minute period of singing. A fifteen minute Friday Assembly was held for the purpose of sharing view and interests of the student body. Other clubs included two debating societies, the Ecclesia for girls and the Forum for boys. The Mandolin and Guitar Club and the Orches- tra were both well known for their fine perfor- mances. Fraternaties and Sororities such as Theta Chi, Alpha Sigma, and Phi Epsilon also made their presence known on campus.

The sentimentality of Berkeley High was demonstrated by the article written by Grace Piatt in 1903 as a final parting of the graduating class. We,the Naughty Three Class, extend to you, fellow stu- dents, our sincerest greetings, as we leave the hallowed halls of the dear old school- Berkeley High! Our steps have worn the floors, our voices have echoed again and again in the old rooms, our failures have tried our teachers ' patience- but our victories there are a sweet rememberance to us. How we did yell when our boys won- when the Crimson and Gold floated first in the field. Oh, those old days! Will we ever enjoy our- selves as we did then- carefree, careless, young and hopeful- what more is needed to have good times? You, our fellow students, whom we are now leaving and many of whom we will never see again, drink to the full the cup of pleasure in your High School days, for they are the best days of all! '
