Editor’s Message This semester ' s Pod is the product of a new experiment. For the first time, Miss Smith selected three editors instead of the usual one. The results of the experiment are shown partially in this book. We think most of the success is felt by the staff, however. By working as a team, we were able to maintain a high standard of efficiency, and to help relieve the burdens which Miss Smith and other individual staff members had previously carried alone. We have enjoyed this opportunity to work to- gether closely, and we hope we have set a precedent for following staffs. The editor ' s job is too big for one person to handle. When the Pod is published annually instead of every semester, as it soon will be, two or more editors may be essential to a successful book. The high points of our semester ' s work were the two surveys taken concerning student feelings about the Pod. The response to these surveys was overwhelming. Many thoughts were contributed and results uncovered both student interest in and support of the Pod and the staff. If it hadn ' t been for this response, you would not have this book in your hands now. We have tried to bring our theme this semester back to Berkeley High, by emphasizing students and their activities. Let the variations within this book be symbolic of the variations within Berkeley High School. We feel we cannot claim the credit for this 01 la Podrida, however. Long hours put in by many people have made this Spring 1965 book possible. We want to express our gratitude for the leadership and direction which comes from our principal, Mr. Curtice. Our deepest appreciation also goes to our sponsor, Miss Smith, for all her guidance and patience. The staff was excellent in accomplishing all tasks quickly and efficiently, and each staff member deserves a gold medal for his individual efforts. Our photographer, Mr. Edwards, besides working strenously to complete our usual pictures, went beyond the call of duty, by taking the aerial picture of Berkeley High, and surprising us with it. We don ' t know what we would have done if Mr. Morrison, of the Brazelton Printing Company, had not come time after time to straighten out our problems. In fact, the whole printing firm has been consistent in its support of our book. A big vote of thanks to you Berkeley High students who supported us through the surveys and sales.
