Dedication MRS. HAGOPIAN Tenth Grade Counselor A dedicated person is a rare individual in this day and age. And rare indeed is one who has dedicated her entire life to the youth of the Berkeley Unified School District. Mrs. Blanche Hagopian has been teacher and counselor at Berkeley High School since the Fall of 1 929. During all this time she has given unstintingly of her time and knowledge to innumerable young people who have profited greatly through the years from her interest and efforts. Now that she is entering the retire- ment phase of her life she can do so with the knowledge that her efforts have been not only fruitful but greatly appreciated. During her years of counseling, the procedures and methods of guidance have changed radically, especially in the field of college requirements and choice of careers. Because she has kept pace with all of these changes, she has been able to provide valuable assistance to countless Berkeley High students. It is not easy to leave an active career in the midst of the exciting educational changes that we are now experiencing, but Mrs. Hagopian can look back on a job well done. We rejoice with her in the culmination of a most successful career, and we wish her continued health and happiness and an active life. It is with a feeling of the highest esteem that we dedicate the 1965 yearbook to Mrs. Blanche Hagopian.

Principal’s Message MR. EMERY J. CURTICE Principal We look forward with great anticipation and excitement to September, 1965, when the Berkeley High School family will move into two new facilities, the Cafeteria and the new building immediately south of the present Academic Building. The Cafeteria building will not only house the cafeteria activities but will also serve as a study hall and the new setting for BHS social events. The other new building, yet to be named, will house the library and twelve English classrooms on the second floor, and Counseling, Administration, Attendance, Accounting, three Special Class classrooms and the Home Economics department on the ground floor. The campus will remain crowded and short of classrooms for one more year while the present Academic Building is being remodeled. The Fall of 1966 should see the building program completed and the bungalows removed, at which time the campus will take on new beauty and improved efficiency of operation. It is regrettable that you of the June graduating class will not be able to enjoy our new campus, but as, if and when you return, please call on me and I shall take you on a personally guided tour of the new facilities.
