For some it means the end of their formal educational life, for others it is just the beginning. In any event it is an important time for all of us. This semester has been one of the most important periods in all our lives, also one of the most eventful. As we proceed into adulthood we proceed into a world of growing complexity and individual responsibility. A world in which adults control the destiny of man forever. More than ever before we must be fully cognizant and truly aware of the world around us. Andre Paul Guillaume Gide said, What another would have done as well as you, do not do it. What another would have said as well as you, don ' t say it. Written as well, do not write it. Be faithful to that which exists nowhere but in yourself — and thus make yourself indispensable. These words should be our guide as we go forth. As we bid farewell to Berkeley High, our teachers, friends, and memories. Let us rededicate ourselves to the principles in which we believe, to growing responsibility in a shrinking world, to lifelong learning, and most of all to each other. May you all be granted the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
