PETER GREEN Pratidcnt STEVE CHANDLER Vic«-Pr«sid nt NANCY HACK Treasurer JUDY BURTON Secretary STEVE PHILIPS Head Yell Leader The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on. -WALTER LIPPMANN BOARD OF CONTROL As I was first handed the gavel of leadership of this school, I was told, ' Pete, here is your place in the sun, but alas, look how the fog is rolling in. I must admit at first things looked very shaky. Starting a semester on the red side of the ledger was only one of the many obstacles that were seemingly in the way of a successful term. But before a month of school had ended, the student body had formed a team which could not be beaten. The sale of student body cards reached a goal never before attempted—2,500. The RIVALRY, the senior play. THE DESK SET. the musical, BABES IN TOYLAND. and the success of this POD, all these were victories achieved by your team. But perhaps the greatest product of this team was the great uplifting of school spirit. Were we glad when our football squad found the winning ways and won the Northen Division ACAL crown and capped it with the great game against Capuchino! But how far would your team have gone without excellent coaches. Special acknowledgment is due Mr. LeTendre, Mr. Moffett. Mrs. Nealson, Mrs. Schwimley, Mr. Lutt and many, many others. There are many, many things which I can not begin to mention. But let me express my thanks to the Board of Control for making your team a cooperative unit, the Daily Jacket for making so many things possible, and let me thank the Associated Students of Berkeley High School for giving me the opportunity to be a member of your team. Thank you and good luck always. Pete Green 12
