QJ U Mm The time is eight ten in the morning and the place is room 211. Year- book adviser Mrs. Sidney Wales is seated at her desk surrounded by a forbidding pile of photographs, envelopes, Jacket copy, and books. She pauses for a moment in her struggle to make order out of chaos and in a tired voice utters the semidesperate question, Are we ever going to get this Pod underway?” However, no answer is forthcoming because the only other persons present are two page editors sleepily identifying pictures. This discouraging scene, although witnessed by any Pod staff is cer- tainly not a typical one. On the contrary, Mrs. Wales’ experienced and able leadership plus the natural desire of the seniors to own a bigger and better Pod” combine to produce a beautiful yearbook. Of course, words and even pictures can never fully take the place of what they represent. Nevertheless, the present staff feels that this Pod does much to strengthen the gap between memory and experience. Look it over carefully and let the pictures and messages help you remember and relive an eventful spring term. It’s an original Pod in many ways. The format as well as the cover are the work of Ronald Lai, a talented member of our class. This book is the final result of many hours of hard work by the entire staff. IMPRESSIONS All through our lives we makes impressions. We do this whether we want to or not. During the past three years that you, the graduating seniors, have spent at Berkeley High School you have made many im- pressions. The way that you have reacted to the situations that have confronted you at Berkeley High has created an impression on many people. Berkeley High School is represented by groups and individuals who, through the impression these groups and individuals make, reflect upon Berkeley High. The athletic teams, Honor Society, California Scholar- ship Federation, extracurricular clubs and activities all make an excellent impression for Berkeley High. And most certainly the combined efforts of the Music and Drama Departments in producing the Operetta have impressed many people. Other activities and projects such as the Alumni Art Exhibit, the Olla Podrida, and the Jacket make excellent impres- sions also. Yet, on the other hand, reckless driving by Berkeley students makes a wrong kind of impression on the citizens of Berkeley, and people be- gin to think that all Berkeley teenagers are juvenile delinquents. The wrong impression given by a few spoils the reputation of Berkeley High. As you graduating seniors enter into a much bigger world, either through work or college, remember the impression that you will make on people and always try to represent yourself, your school, and your work as excellently as you possibly can.
