Student Congress Executive Committee Public Relations Committee

Page 70 text:

STUDE T CU GRESS Student Congress is composed of the duly elected representatives of the student body, and it acts as a governing authority in student activity matters. The Congress membership consists of the presidents of all homerooms, as well as the officers of each of the three classes and the president and secretary of Club Council. Officers of the club, elected through direct ballot by the students are the president, the vice president, the secretary and the treasurer. These four students plus the Sophomore, Junior and Senior Class Presidents form the executive committee of Congress, which, along with the sponsor, acts to guide Congress. The Congress deals with the problems of the student body through ap- propriate legislature and recommendations to the school administration. As a part of its annual activity, the Congress directs the production of several assembly programs, the yearly kickoff dance and pep rally, and, occasionally, school social functions. Subdivision into several committees enables Congress to handle its many duties more efficiently. Among these committee groups are the Hospitality Committee, which greets the school's guestsg the Extra-Curricular Activities Committeeg and the Publicity Committee, which acts under the chairmanship of the Vice President. The Student Congress is a member of the National and State Associations of High School Student Councils. The officers are: Bryan Nogaki, President, Gary Facente, Vice President, Evelynn Yamashita, Secretary, Walter Lubbe, Treasurer. The sponsor is Mr. Joseph Kennedy.
