The oldest road in town was the Schraalenburgh Road, once called King's Highway and now Washington Avenue. On Schraalenburgh Road stood the old stone house Cpictured abovel which was then used as a tavern. About the year l907 the old stone house was demolished, and a frame dwelling house was erected on the site a little to the southwest ot the intersecting roads. In i923 the property was acquired bylthe Bergenfield Board of Education and the house was moved in order to provide for the erection of the Harding School which, with recent additions, has become our junior-senior high school building. After dropping the first two games to Tenafly and Westwood, the Mites dumped Weehawken and Hasbrouck Heights. ln the last four games of the seeason the boys played their' finest football, offensively and defensively. The highlight of the season was a scoreless tie with league champions Dumont, a game in which the Mites completely outplayed the Huskies, but were unable to cross the Dumont goal line. Optimism runs high for next year's squad. However, fourteen seniors on this year's squad will be leaving: Gene Brendel, Henry Dellaratta, Joe Dunn, Walter Fowski, Michael Klausner, John Leeman, Kenneth Medearis, Ronald Porath, Alan Siegel, Harold Spandonis, Daniel Telesca, Bob Thaler, Richard Tremper, and Bill Weston. 72 aw, Rfiif Q3 qi JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL B.H.S.
