The oldest road in town was the Schraalenburgh Road, once called King's Highway and now Washington Avenue. On Schraalenburgh Road stood the old stone house lpictured above? which was then used as a tavern. About the year l907 the old stone house was demolished, and a frame dwelling house was erected on the site a little to the southwest of the intersecting roads. In 1923 the property was acquired by the Bergenfield Board of Education and the house was moved in order to provide for the erection of the Harding School which, with recent additions, has become our junior-senior high school building. Our Freshmen class was certainly swell, And our President, Dave Major, rang .the bell. We had two dances that hit the topg The Starlight Ball and the Spring Hop. Our trip to Rye Beach was barrels of fun, And will always be remembered by everyone. Then we all lined up one June day, And accepted our pins in a proud way. Graduation was drawing near, Our class had had a successful year. Being Sophomores was a real treasure, One year behind and two to measure. New experiences were biology, And the bus trip to Lederle. The Barnacle Ball turned out just great, And the Sophomore Sock Rock really did rate. By the applause of the audience you could tell That the Variety Show went over well. ln the tenth grade Mary Mosher held first position And throughout the year showed her drive and ambition. As Juniors, around the case we did crowd, Choosing the ring of which we are proud. The Sock Rock and Mardi Gras dances last year, Left thoughts which will always be dear. Our history teacher took us to see Valley Forge where brave men made history. Sky High, our 'junior class play, Gave us plenty to do for many a day. The library decked in lilacs, lavender and white, Was the place of the prom one spring night. The buffet supper and soda bar Are things that will never be matched by far. Selling stationery was something new, With President, Dave Major, Heading the crew. Our junior year was coming to an end, Being seniors was around the bend. Our last year proved to be best, And it really outshone all the rest. Our class treasury grew and grew From all the selling done by you. Bookcovers and Christmas cards surely did sellg Head in the Clouds was the play this year, Potato chips and ice cream also went well. Our president Mary Mosher rates a big cheer. The Snowball welcomed Santa in mid-December, lt was a gala night we'll all remember. The year book committees worked as a team, Giving us Crossroads, really supreme. Thoughts of the Shamrock Shag dance quickly fled, As we faced term papers with a dread. The prom was held in the month of May, We danced and danced the night away. The goal had arrived that we'd all waited for, Facing the future we'll soon walk through the door. As Graduation loomed in view, The girls donned the white and the boys the blue. And now it's time to say, Goodbye, With the hope that our memories shall never die. 93 s ggi l l 5 . i Q .gf -..5g,.s 1 Wen .. .., .. . - li- L zy. - f-. . 5 A i I n it rgiimtx ii i.-..-ggi-2,-,gg -553-5. f'-. my .
