Fyscher for her inspiring leadership and gently guiding hand throughout the years of high school: for her patience and understanding which have caused the Senior Class to expand not only in the appreciation of monetary values but in the abil- ity to think in a constructive manner, which will help them as they approach and go down the highway of life - in short for helping to mold young minds at the threshold of life Q thank youf, To Mr. Monahan who is endowed with that rare combination of authority and geniality which com- mands both the respect and affection of his students: whose ability to look at things from the point of view of the students has enabled him to help mold a school compatible with the ideals of both students and teachers: who has guided many past yearbook com- mittees with patience and understandingg to whom this Senior Class owes its yearbook - thank youf! .xdcfminidfra fion El W' all j6tCuAg Y sw ,X SV J x -- .2 40 5 5 ,Lip , I Q fp ' ,I z W A 4 K W gamddfg vt -J SJ STANDING Left to R1ght A Hay Jr A Wylhe SEATED E Grotefend E Laurencelle NI Famer O DeNoyer M Mahan 4 Y Q I ' Z - I Y' f -3 L ' ? 2 Q' Wi 3 I 1, ,.. ,M .. f. If TO THE CLASS OF 1960 Another school year is drawing to a close. Most of you will soon be wage earners. All of us at Bergen Tech hope that you have absorbed enough technical training and shop skills to be an asset in your community. . You are now partially trained. Many of you will enter Apprenticeship to complete the mastery of younchosen field of work. As apprentices you will be back to join with other Bergen Tech graduates in Related Instruction.. g Others of you entering fields where apprenticeltraining is not available will he interested in the upgrading pro- grams of the Evening School. It is my wish that each of you shall he happy and suc- cessful in your future endeavors. Q!! James A. W'ilson I Apprentice Coordinator l TO THE CLASS OF 1960 l was here when we opened our doors in 1952 for a June graduating class of 122. I was here when you came to us also in 1957. You people -- 151 strong - represent our largest group out of five graduating classes since June 1955. To date some 1200 pupils have walked these corridors. Seven hundred and fifty of these, including yourselves. have remained to graduate. Of the others. some were dis- appointed in what we had to offer and left us to return to the districts that had sent them. Some. completely disil- lusioned in either so-called vocational education or in aca- demic education. disappeared into the labor market or into service without any high school diploma only to face dis- appointment and hardship because of this. Another group. unfortunately. left us because we asked them to leave. Of the previous graduates before yourselves. some we felt were to do honor to Bergen Tech. Some we winced at the granting of their diplomas because of barely average performance, YVe were fearful they would hurt the name of Bergen Tech that was slowly gaining recognition in the county. For those to whom honor came. we were smugly satisfied and said to ourselves Wie knew this would happenf, But even more so. we like to open our mouths in amaze- ment at the success of those we ourselves felt might not make the grade. and did. There is no more heartfelt feel- ing in any staff member here than to be proven wrong. Now to you new graduates of June. 1960. no matter what side of the fence you think you are going out on --- success story or just so-so. I want to say this Q l know that success stories don't always succeed. And I know also. that many others have an amazing bounce in them when they get outside these four walls. All I hope for is that our so-called success stories really succeed. l hope that our so-called 'faverageu students can come back to joyfully report their progress. Believe nie. your disappointments will be mine. Your successes will be your own because you write your own ticket through life. but l also will glory in your successes because 1 feel Bergen Tech has helped you toward this success.
