Mr. Singleton We are particularly fortunate in our school to have a board which is interested in our affairs and progressive in their moti- vations, Moreover, we are signally favored in our superintendant, Mr. L. R. Singleton who has devoted years of his life in unstinted efforts for the betterment of our school fa- cility and the enrichment of our curriculum and staff, We, the yearbook staff, salute these de- voted men! ROY N, WALTERS, Principal WILLIAM RIFFE, Supervising Principal 4 WILLIAM PALAHUNICH, Guidance Counselor LILLIAN McGUIRE, Secretary ya? pe. : tin z Bg = z OF ed Senior Class Officers wg pen Danny Atkinson, Vice-President; Glen Miracle, Treasurer; Linda Owens, Secretary; Charles Edwards, President We, the seniors of 1968-69, are proud that we have played a major role in the new Berea Community School system. Although we feel pride in being the first graduating class of the newly merged schools, we also feel regret because many memories and traditions have been left behind. The seniors from the Foundation school have lost their school colors of blue and white; their school mascot, the lion; and the privacy of a smaller school. Those from Berea High have lost their building where some students spent eleven years of their educational life. There have been hardships at times for all, but this year's class has been equal to the task, We hope we have been good leaders for those who will follow us at the new school in coming years, We are proud to have led the way! COMMUNITY EDUCATION AT BEREA There’s a new sense of community at Berea. The schools have joined forces and every- body is rooting for the same team. , Everybody is also cheering for better education. As new buildings take shape, the challenge is to become education-centered. This means involving everybody—young and old—in a process of problem solving. The idea is for each solution to help enrich community life. The process is endless, but the first problem has already been solved because every- body is rooting for the same team, and we are enriched with a new sense of community. 150 sn Es sina ES SE We’re going to do it my way! As the co-editors of the 1969 Pirate, we would like to express our apprecia- tion to this year’s staff. All have worked hard to publish this book, and we hope that you, the reader, will enjoy it and treasure it for many years to come. Jim Moore and Mike Baugh No, we’re going to do it my way!
