Dubbed the Muddiest Game of the Year by all players was the Homecoming game with Sayre. A decisive victory, however, made up for the miserable conditions. Right. '66-'67 BHS BASKETBALL TEAM: BACK ROW: Boone Tillery, Carl Hazelwood, Kenny Duerson, Abby Scruggs, Ronnie Devere, Steve Herron, Mike Coyle, Don Blackburn, Jimmy Pennington, Glyn Green, Mike Baugh, Coach Chuck Eckler, BOTTOM ROW: Managers Roger Williams, Doug Estridge, and Jeff Baugh. This year the fans and team suffered a long, cold season, A 5-18 season isn't much of a season to shout about, but there were several times during the year when the Pirates showed some terrific basketball skill and always showed a lot of hustle and spirit. The team saw a new coach in Chuck Eckler, a graduate of Berea, where he started on the Mountaineer roster. At right are the Seniors, top: Scruggs, Herron, Pennington, Hazelwood, Coach Eckler, and Tillery.
