It occupied a small space in Lincoln Hall. A professor was in charge and one student was able to handle the business. In 1907 Mrs. Margaret Golden was placed in charge. By this time, it was necessary to enlarge the space in the basement of Lincoln Hall. Mr. Wertenberger was made manager in 1918, a position he held until his death in 1926. The store was moved to Main Street in 1925. Mr. George Bent was made manager in 1926 and held this position until 1935. Mr. H. H. Hays has been manager since 1935 until the present time. Berea College Store trains many students and, throughout the years, a number of these students have chosen merchandising as their life work.
