Approximately 800 current periodicals are available in the reading room. Children of the community are among the most enthusiastic users of the facilities of the library. Much of their interest may be due to the fact that the children’s department has a very large collection of books of folk and fairy tales. This collection is kept up to date with selections from the many good children's stories published each year, including the Newbery and Caldecott awards. The Berea College Laundry has served our community for al- most fifty years. During the early years, most of the work was done by students. At present, thirty-four local people and only eight students are employed. For over 25 years, our Laundry has been a member of the American In- stitute of Laundering, the center of professional laundry education, train- ing, and practical research.
