INTRODUCTION WE ARE representative of the Appalachian Mountain region, other selected areas of the United States, and many foreign countries. We are ideal- ists. We are realists. Born with little, we dream big and fight fiercely for what we believe to be rightly ours. We are Bereans. WE HAVE COME to share in and perpetuate the basic principles and ideals of the founders of Berea and its long history of men and women who have helped it grow. WE BELONG to a small community in a world of communities ... a community of individuals sharing leadership, life, spirit, work, friendship, song, and fun . . . united in the search for knowl- edge, understanding, and truth. Throughout the following pages, you will see pictures depicting events that have taken place this year in the Berea community. You may not find your personal likeness; however, it is hoped that you will be able to identify yourself with the pictured happenings and that you may look through these pages years later and say, I remember this . . . this time, this place, this event. I did this, too. This reminds me of . . . And you will be haunted by a loneliness and a loveliness that you will never for- get. Here is the 1964 CHIMES.
