'1' H E E C H 0 JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY ln the year of our Lord nineteen hundred twenty-two, six little green heads came popping through the mist. First there came a little fellow, Mer- rell XYalker by name, full of pep and energy and with lots of fame. Raymond XVissler came second with angel wings, not knowing the meanness and faults of girls. There was Roy Hutzelman, a boy of high ideals but lost them after the first day. lYilliam Collier came forth with bright blue eyes and kinky ears. Roy Newbould was there with a very large head and plenty of feet. Last, but not least. was a very fair maiden with wonderful cheeks. She blessed the Freshman Class by a beautiful name which was Garnet Cummins. The honorable six were very wise. attempting nothing that was very hard, but always accomplishing the task begun. Latin was our favorite sport except on test day when all our books were put on the honor roll, save a few pages of the vocabulary that slipped in our desks for future reference if desired. Thanks to our classmate, XYilliam Collier, who happened to learn about twelve and one-half per cent of his vocabulary and so we all made the same grade in Latin on the final exam. through his efforts. XYith many a hardship and several hard knocks we survived the first term's sentence at the Township jail. The following year found all six of us before judge Stafford, who was to give us our sentence for the coming term. XYe pleaded with him to let us take Caesar. He was very sorry that we chose such a poor subject, but since we were anxious to take it he let us have our desires. XYe behaved very nicely until after the interclass tournament, which we won, when Raymond VVissler relieved himself of school life and retired with his parents two miles east of Bentonville. This was a shock to the whole class. He had been the class radio, keeping every one of us in good spirits and now the joke had to fall to some one else. iYith more good traits than faults we. the five that survived. left thc Township jail with higher ideals, greater desires. and above all an ever- lasting friendship with our schoolmates. One bright September morn in the year nineteen hundred twenty-three. three of the now disdained Sophomore Class entered Bentonville High School once more. Vie had left all our frivolous underclass ways there and entered upon the dignified role of upper classmen. Among these was Garnet Cum- mins, the dignified school girl, who never powders, only when necessary. One of her qualities of the lunior year is her abilitv to vamp a hack-driver. Rov Newbould, the sheik of the school, has gleaming black eyes, black hair and fair complexion. The one thing that spoils Rov's vamning methods is his small feet. Rov holds an interest in the Senior Class. 'XYilliam Collier has a long nose, witch brown hair, and a very great interest in underclass girls. especially the Sophomore Class. ' After the first semester we were joined bv Earl XYalters. a red headed boy, with very few freckles, also with a three-decker brain. He has won the hearts of the -lunior Class so that he is now our gold brick. The Junior Class of '25 expect to crown their success as .luniors with the Junior-Senior Recep- tion. A Page eighteen
