Awards of Excellence Each year the awards assembly is held to recognize those stu- dents who are deserving awards. The top ten seniors of the year are introduced and are presented with scholarships that they have applied for and won. It is a proud moment for all who have won awards and the parents of students who attend. Prometheans Argue Current Events The Prometheans club was founded in 1959 and is the second oldest Benton orga- nization. At the monthly meetings the group discusses current events, both of lo- cal and international interest. The club kicks off each new school year with a pic- nic and also holds a picnic in the spring to induct new members. Officers for the new year are announced at this time. The 1985- 1986 officers are president Jackie Horn, vice presidnt Chris Hughes, parliamentar- ian Jerry Edson and secretary LeAnn Neal. The whole group likes to get in on the fun of “pigging out”. Terrorism is a favorite topic of the club, as Chris Brant demonstrates. Even when its time to eat people are still trying to get their say in the discussion. Prometheans

Rhonda Crowned Queen As R.O.T.C. The 63rd annual R.O.T.C. ball took place at the Moose Lodge on February 7, 1986. The night was full of activities. It started off with the introduction of the batallion staff from Benton, La- fayette and Centeral High School, who were each escorted in. Then after the introductions the three batallions staff and escorts were given the first dance. The evening continued with dancing and a good time for all. Left: Col.
