Smoking, Alcoholism, Drugs . . Concerns at B.H.S. A student shall not knowingly possess, use, transmit, be under the influence of or show evidence of having used any narcotic drug, hallucinogenic drug, amphetamine, barbituate, marijuana, alcoholic beverage, or intoxicant of any kind at the following locations or times: 1) on the school ground during, immediately before or immediately after school hours; 2) on the school grounds at any other time when the school is being used by any school group, or 3) off the school grounds at a school activity, function or event. First Violation- Seven (7) to Ten (10) days suspension. Second Violation- Students shall be suspended for the remainder of the semester by the Superintendent's office with loss of grades. It seemed as if the uniqueness of 1978 affected everything, including students' habits. More students stood up and took notice of the problems facing teenagers. Mr. Carl Chatfield had to remind students several times of the rules concerning drinking and drugs. In addition the newly-acquired smoking area was removed at the request of the students. Alcoholism, smoking, and drugs couldn't have been considered problems in epidemic proportion, but they were certainly concerns that needed to be dealt with. 26 Alcoholism
