XX'hile we know that life at Benton High is a multitude of realities which are too intangible to be re- lated in black and white. perhaps in some small way we can preserve the friendships which we all hold so dearly. lf this book -will serve to bridge the past and bring to mind the priceless memories of joy and pleas- ures of the year just gone, it will have served its purpose. There are those without whose efforts this book would not have been possible. The staff would like to thank all of you. . I With these thoughts, we proudly present to you, the students, your new PANTHER. ARKANSAS c'Qa01s11 1 5 , 1959 Y Jear Faculty and Student Body: The 5QHQ0l year 1959-60 is still a year of confusion in the american high school. This is largely due to the differences in philosophy of various groups of our people. CHS group says that thc high school should educate for the different phases of man's life, This philosophy would seem to indicate that education is good because it has vocational, political, and social aims. The other philosophy says that we should educate Hhan as Mann This philosophy holds that man is a moral being and as such he is ihmeasurahleg that he is a being of infinite worth, a child of an all wise God. If this be true, educjtion must seek to enlighten mens minds and nuture his conscience. Yay we in Tenton High School seek to carrv out both of these philosophies. Je need to teach more vocational, political and social knowledge, hut along with this we must also teach more of the moral and spiritual values of life. Hay l937-GO be a good year. Nav the products of Qenton High School he able to hold a joh, practice good citizenship and social graces and at same time have the faith in themselves and their God that they need to live happy worthwhile lives. President: Marilyn Cox. Secretary-Treasurer. It's hard to think of ourselves as juniors. Most of us still talk about Worltl History and geometry instead of American History and alge- bra. As juniors, most of us have fully realized the meaning of the word study '. Those who did study were rewarded for their efforts when they were taken into the National Honor Society at semester. But it hasnt been all work and no play. Remember what fun we had decorating the homecoming float? Could we ever forget trudging from house to house selling magazines? The highlight of our junior year was when we ordered our senior rings. NWC know that when we are seniors we will be able to look back on the fond memories of our junior year in high school. ,Iuuc Baker Patsy Ruth B.1l4cr 'lamcs Bailuy Donald Balding Jimmie Sue Ballard Randy Barker Rose Barnett Sherrion Bradford .il Barric Dm is l.iml.1 Dimmu' 'less DiNl.1io Marggrrt Durcn Bobby Ifticn Slmron lfulmmlcs Dwight Marilyn Fitc Fooks Phyllis Dam.
