NVe of the junior Class have enjoyed three terms of high school life at Benton. We first became a part of Benton High School when we embarked upon our Freshman year. Under the super- vision of Mr. Stauffer and Mrs. Albertson, we elected these class officers: james R. Hess, President: Thomas Lockard, Vice President, Irma jean Wood, Secretary, Barbara Raski, Treasurer. Soon the Sophomores put us in our place with an initiation, and the following spring we gave them a 'return party' to show that we were not poor losers. During the school year we chose class symbols: Give to the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you, as Motto, Blue and White, class colors, Vfhite Carnation, class flower. The next year as Sophomores, we entered many and varied extra-curricular activities. This time under the guidance of Mr. Rabb and Mr. Allegar, class officers were elected: john B. Hess, President, Robert Lewis, Vice President, Norma Young, Secretary: Beverly Fritz, Treasurer. This year we did our best rn to make the Freshmen feel at home, even initiating them. In the spring we attended a Lil' Abne party given by the Freshmen. At the beginning of the present year we selected our official class rings, bearing the insignia of Benton High School. Our first social event was an enjoyable Christmas Party. Other events were the Valentineis Day Party, Class Play entitled His Ozark Cousins, and the Junior-Senior Prom, our first formal affair. Through our three years we have been well represented in the National Agricultural Organiza- tion, the National Homemaking Organization, the Benton School Band, the Junior Historical Club, vari- ous athletic teams, and dramatics. Next year, when we enter as Seniors, we hope the Class of '53 will continue to uphold its reputation, and that we may finally look back on four years of a pleasant and scholarly school life. JOHN B.
