Sr' Having passed through that immortal degree so informally called initiation we, the Sophomore Class, are justly entitled to he considered as active and experienced mcmhers of the Benton High School. ln our first meeting of this term we organized our class and elected the following oflicers to preside: J oHN Tuoivi PsoN - President Guoaou DEITER - Vice President SCEVA P1-:ALER - - Secretary CAROLYN MCHENRY - - - Treasurer On the twenty-second day of November, we confirmed upon our inferiors, the Freshmen. that beautiful degree of initiation. This was our first social event of the termg hut, we have since participated in a Christmas party, the annual HAH School Party, and are expecting to be favored with a return party sponsored by the Freshman Class. Our class has been and still is well represented in the band, the orchestra, various athletic teams, and the school dramas. Upon entering the 1941-1942 term as Juniors, we hope to continue and improve our work in the different activities in which we have participated. We are all sure that hy this method we will have a pleasant as well as a most prosperous time throughout the remainder of our high school term. 29

Our first important event was the electing of class ollicers. After some thoughtful consideration, we chose the following: ROBERT BROWN - - President GAYLE HARRISON - Vice President BETTY YOCUM Secretary CARL SHULTZ - - - - Treasurer As is usual with Juniors, we selected suitable class rings which bear the official Benton High School seal. We think the class as a whole was pleased with its selection. During this school term, our class has participated in many extra-curricular activities. At the Junior Class Christmas Party, various members of our group organized an orchestra for a dance. Other classes joined forces with us and an informal square dance was held as a climax to the high school's Christmas parties. After the annual all school party, presentation of the class play, and the Junior-Senior Banquet, we glided toward the end of another lap of our high school career. ln June, 1941, the Junior Class adjourned for a short rest before beginning the fourth and final year as high school students. 28
