L. RAY APPLEMAN Principal School is one of the commonest of all common experiences. When the word school is used, it is understood from a background of rich experiences rather than from a well-phrased dictionary definition, and this understanding is lighted by vivid and colorful memories. What are these colorful and vivid memories? Schools are established and maintained for training us in certain knowledges, skills and attitudes that society deems necessary. It would seem to follow then that the memories would be mostly of the knowl- edges in history and geography, skills in writing and arithmetic, and the attitudes of honesty, fair play and such. But they are not of these things. Instead they are memories of the people with whom we worked and played, of the things they did and said, both the foolish and the wise. This year book is an effort to gather as many as possible of these delightful incidents and to print and bind them into a book for your pleasure and satisfaction. The staff has worked long and faithfully at their task and hope this book may continue to give you pleasant hours in increasing measure throughout the years. Page 1 1
