24 THE ORACLE THE SEN ICR DRAMA THE MANEUVERS OF JANE The evenings of April eleventh and twelfth, nineteen hundred and nineteen, were triumphant ones for the Senior class of '19. The success of our increased endeavor throughout the year culminated in our Senior Drama, The Maneuvers of Jane. . - All the characters played their parts in an exceptionally fine man- ner and helped to make the drama a success. Each one deserves a great amount of praise for portraying their part so clearly. 26 THE ORACLE f TI-IE JU IOR CONTEST 1l1-..-...T Our annual Junior Contest in Expression was this year held in the Universal Theatre, Friday evening, February 14, by the class of 1920. Q It 'proved to 'be one of the most successful events in the 'whole 'history of the con- ,tests of our school. This contest is one of the most important affairs in the J-unior year. It is the first 'big public event which the class has to manage, and offers the first good opportunity for those interested in public speaking to speak in pulblic. The School Board anwarded the following appropriate prizes to those having the highest average, ' The first prize, a War Saving Stamp, to Claude Moore. The second prize a. Thrift Card 'half fllled, to Miss Helen Hess. The third prize a Thrift Card one quarter filled. to Miss Florence Thompson. However the great value lay not in the prizes, but in the experience and training which each one received. We hope this event may continue to grow in size and valu-e in the future of our school. -C.
