T H E' o R A c L E FRESI-IMAN CLASS POEM Last September we began a career The first term of w'hich is drawing near We have tried our .best to do what is right Knowing that Right always rules might. Now, where are some things I have seen If the Freshies who are thought so green. Bob, our president, likes girls I guess If you don't believe it, ask Helen Hess Ethel, our blonde, nicknamed Teddy Haven, the dreamer of our cla-ss Never worries about whether he'll pass. Sara is growing so very tall She soon will 'be quite up to Paul. Stanley and Solon are always so busy, While John runs around in a little Tin Lizzie. It would worry Erma a very great deal If Millard's Ford should lose a wheel. Joe and McClellan drive a bay mare They come from the country and make a fine pair Solon William and dear little Grace Who drive to school at a rapid pace. Maulde and Geneva 'have lots of fun With Ross and Howard they are never dumb. Marion and Loreen are very good friends Upon what one does the other depends. Erma McHenry takes Walks galore And with Robbins here, she'll take many more. Edward Laubach has such blue eyes Big and round -and looks so wise. Elizalbeth and Lola are so very small Tfhat one can scarcely see them at all. Alton and Roscoe are .quiet 'tis true But 'with humor and wit they are 'beat by few. Pauline's nickname is Pretty Polly And she surely is kind and jolly. Any more tales of our loyal class We'll keep to ourselves and let them pass. As we're coming back again next year And want every one to be sure to ibe 'here, So 'here's to you till we came .back Till we meet again Dear Orange and Black. -P. D.

THE ORACLE 23 SCI-ICOL SERVICE PAGE Below we have listed the names of the students that have attended Benton Vocational School who have risked their limbs, their sight, their all, for the sake of our country. Young men and women alike, who saw their duty, who went at the first call and who were among the first to show their ability against the Hun. These boys and girls were in. nearly every branch of the service and many received commissions or were made non commissioned officers. Benton High was represented by boys in nearly every great battle where the Americans were operating. Perhaps some of our own nurses were lnursing the wounded just behind where our boys were fighting. Who nows . Many have been wounded and four have given their lives That this country shall not -perish from the earth but have everlasting life. We should be and are exceedingly proud of these people who have mziuldelsuch a reputation, as soldiers and nurses, for themselves and their sc oo . In the years to come when we read the names of these brave soldiers and nurses we shall then begin to realize what a great work they helped to o Those Who Gave Their Lives in Service.
