SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY On a warm summer night in 1963 finds the BCHS graduating class of 53 at their first reunion at the exclusive Club Caddoa, on the shore of Lake Hasty, about 20 miles from Las Animas. And look who just came in--Clark Billings and Vance Burton. After Serving in the paratroops they toured Pan America. They’re also rolling in the chips since they bought Clark’s Casino in Reno. And there with them is Melvin Taylor. Melvin is a professor at Mines now. Tap dances at a night club in Golden every night for extra money, too. . Oh, do you see Yoland Meyer? She's the one in the mink. She just flew in from the coast after a Bermuda honeymoon. It's her third marriage, but she says this time it’s for keeps. And there's Mrs. Max Wheeler. She was Judy Taliaferro, you know. She said she left Max at home with their three boys. They hope to have their own basketball team someday. Joan Dimmitt just came in after riding the water skis out on the lake. She is making her 25th picture for Warner Brothers next year. It'll be called My Heart Pines for You. There's Gracie Elmer. She still lives in Las Animas and is trying to make up her mind about a sailor and home town ex-Marine. Who's that dancing out there? Why it’s Mr. and Mrs. John Edgett. She was Donna Canfield. He is manager of Safeway and they plan to be married when they feel they can afford it. There's Hazel. Used to be Breckenridge, you know. She is quietly married to a minister. She will stay until the State Fair when she appears as trick rider of Nelson's Nimble Tricksters. Beverly Glasscoe is modeling for Breck Shampoo ads. The photographers cna't keep their minds on their work, either. Remember that junk yard we passed outside of town? Don White, Tim McChesney, and Kenneth Arnold own it. They are developing a rocket ship out of old cars. There's Joan Lingle over by the orchestra. She is married to Dave Terboss now and they live in New York state. Barbara Shriver is married too, to a Marine captain. Mollie Thomas has succeeded Mr. Thurston in the science department at BCHS. And, oh, Ron Losey just made an appearance. He is number 99 on the Navy football team. There's Larry Tucker, too. He owns Tuck's General Store near the Fort. And Ed Gillespie and Willie Quarles. They own the Sunbow pop factory now. They call it Peco and Cue's Beverages. Boy, Brad Samuelson has sure changed. He lives in New York and is a bookie taking bets on the Yankees. Joan Akin has gone to the big city, too. What a surprise! There's Mrs. Templeton and Mr. Cooper, our class sponsors. Both have quit teaching; Mrs. Templeton is directing Harvey on Broadway; its third straight year. Mr. Cooper is head of sales promotion for Buster Brown Shoes at their main office in St. Louis. Ralph Binam is out there cutting a rug. He is head engineer here at the dam. Ann Dillon and her ex-airman husband are going to town on a large farm out south. Jean Muniz is head buyer for the Woolworth's store in Denver, thread department. Joyce Funk, with her sweet disposition, is getting to be well known in the UN. She assists Mrs. Roosevelt. Oscar Ferguson was recently voted LA's most eligible bachelor. He is still slaying the women with his mysteriousness. A. C. Rowan is busy perfecting a new type of AC current, which will benefit chemists in their lab work. Butvh Setchfield has just come back from the Cattlemen's Association meeting in Cheyenne. He’s president, and is arguing for socialized veterinary medicine. He didn't lose a match, either, with his full-Nelson. Standing over there at the punch bowl is John Salas, Bruce Beaman and Wilbur Thomas. John has a regular KLMR program now. He is top entertainer with his Jerry Lewis and Donald Duck imitations. John has made so much money that he is running two horses in the Kentucky Derby this year. Just look at those classy cowboy togs of Bruce’s. He owns a thousand acre ranch in Texas now. Drove down in his new Cadillac, which he says is merely transportation. Wilbur is married and is Las Animas Chief of Police. Traffic accidents in the old town have been reduced by 837o. • There's Mary Christensen and Audrey McBride. After fooling around with cars for several years, they're new hobby is airplanes. Mable Lutz is assistant manager of Cliff's AG. I heard they were thinking of changing the name to Cliff’s and Mable's. Look who staggered in. There's Ken Jantzen, Harry Vandiver, Tom Cragen, and Harold Canfield. Ken, with his way with the women, is a cosmetic salesman. He says he knew his learning in Mr. Cooper's coordination class would be good for something. Harry, for some unknown reason, is living in La Junta. He owns what was formerly Marshall's Cafe and has named it Harry's Hangout, but it is better known as Harry's Hangover. Tommy is branch manager of International Harvester sales in Rocky Ford. Harold, dressed classy as ever, is over there flirting with some of the women.
