IN MEMORIAM We wish to dedicate thls book to the memory of two teachers who gave unselfishly to the students of Benson. Mr. Hays, math teacher, and Mr. Schrei, sheet metal instructor, were loved and respected by all. MR DONALD SCHREI Donald F Schrer popular well lrked Benson faculty member dred suddenly of a heart attack after the Benson Washlnqton football game at lefferson last fall Mr Schrel had been a teacher at Benson for the past nlne years He taught sheet metal leather photoqraphy and mechan lcal drawrnq rn day school and he was an rn structor for the Portland Lvenrnq Schools He worked rn the counselmq offlce and served as head counselor for one year Hrs pleasrnq personalrty and frlendllness IQ greatly m1ssed at Benson Hrs abrlrty to always come forward wrth a roke or humorous remark rn a ser1ous srtuatron was one of hrs greatest attrrbutes He had great success rn handlrnq boys and qettrnq them to achleve up to and beyond therr db1l1l19S Thls IS the mark of the true educator that he was 1'- lin -in Y' KN-9 MR OWEN HAYS For twenty f1ve years Mr Gwen W Hays served the state of Oregon as an educator ln Portland he f1lled prlncrpalshxps at Bo1se Llnton and Beech qrade schools and for the past two years he was a member of the math department here at Benson He was farthful rn dtscharqrnq hrs dut1es and was an honored and respected member of the Benson faculty He marntalned a quret drqnrty rn the classroom and always found trme to QIVG sympathetlc assrstance to all who requested 1t He won for hrmself a warm place rn the esteem and affectrons of h1s assocrates and wrll be mrssed by the faculty and student body allke 1 -t . fn 9 -J, .1 K.
