Such a person is James Allen, Throughout his four years in high school, James has maintained a high scholastic average, which is evidenced by the fact that he was chosen as a waiter his sophomore year for the Junior-Senior Prom. James has also been active in our school club system. As a freshman he was a member of our Guidance and Science clubs, as a sophomore he be- longed to our F.F.A. chapter, and as a senior, served as a member of the Monogram club. Sports have maintained an active place in James Allen ' s school days. He has participated in Varsity Track for four years. His baseball career encompassed his freshman, junior, and senior years, and he performed a remarkable feat in football when h e played for the first time his senior year and received All-Conference honorable mention. James Allen has indeed been an asset to our class. His dedication and outstanding character assure his sucess in his future persuits. MAURILLA ALLEN A friendly smile, a charming personality, and good looks describe one of the outstanding students in the senior class— Maurilla Allen. Maurilla has attained a high scholastic standing and has participated in many extra- curricular activities. She has been a member of the following clubs: F. H. A. , in which she received her junior and chapter degrees; F.T.A. ; Glee Club; the dramatics club; the Student Coimcil; and the Annual Staff, serving as typist. Maurilla ' s freshman year began by her being elected secretary of the class. As a sophomore, Maurilla was selected a band majorette. She received training when she attended majorette camp at Windy Hill Beach, South Carolina, and she served as co-chief majorette her senior year, Maurilla was a member of the homecoming court her junior and senior years and was voted Best Dressed as a senior. Following her graduation, Maurilla plans to attend Peace College, where she will major in psychology. Later, she will transfer to the Univer- sity of North Carolina. The senior class is proud to have Maurilla as a member. JUDY DUNN The class of 1966 wouldn ' t have been the same if it had not had among its members that mischievous, intellectual, and dynamic girl— Judy Dunn. Her activities during her four years in high school have included mem- bership in these clubs: the Dramatics Club; the F. H, A. Club, theF.T.A. Club, serving as its secretary her junior year; the Monogram Club, of which she was secretary her senior year; and the Beta Club, serving as president her senior year. Judy was also a member of the band, serving as secretary- treasurer for two years; and the girl ' s basketball team. Judy was the adver- tising manager on the annual staffhersenioryear. When she was a sophomore, she was a waitress at the Junior-Senior, During her freshman year in high school, she was appointed to be a pagette at the North Carolina House of Representatives in Raleigh, As a junior, Judy served as a marshal at graduation exercises, and as a senior, she was voted Most Athletic. In spite of so many extracurricular activities, Judy ' s grades have remain- ed high; each year she has attended the scholastic banquet. After graduation, Judy ' s plans are to attend St. Mary ' s Junior College, where she will take courses leading to a major in English. Later, she will transfer to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Whatever she does, or wherever she goes, Judy is sure to be a success. VSTllO LINDA MATTHEWS A sweet smile and a charming personality describe Linda Matthews. In Linda ' s quiet way, she has been able to undertake many jobs and do them well. During her first year in high school, Linda became an active member in the Future Homemakers of America, She also sang in the Glee Club. Linda ' s sophomore year was filled with many activities: she was reporter ofF.H.A. and a member of the F. T. A, She earned her Junior and Chapter Degrees inF.H.A. She was also tapped to become a member of the Beta Club, and she was chosen to serve as waitress at the Junior-Senior Prom. Linda ' s jiuiior year was filled with two new experiences: she was elected as co-editor of the Tatler , and she was a marshal in the commencement exercises. Linda ' s grades have remained very high, and as a reward she has attend- ed for the past three years the annual scholarship banquet. Her photogenic quality was revealed when she was chosen as Miss Tatler. Linda ' s popular- ity was also shown when the Future Farmers picked her as their chapter sweetheart for 1966. After graduation Linda plans to attend Campbell College and major in business education. As anyone can plainly see, Linda is a truly outstanding person, and a fine example of a good citizen. CHUCK PARKER Voted Most Intellectual boy by the graduating class, Chuck Parker has really deserved the title. He has maintained a high scholastic average during his four years in high school. As a sophomore, Chuck has the grades to be in the Beta Club and also a waiter at the Junior-Senior Prom. His junior year, he served as marshal during commencement services. He has attended the scholarship banquet held each year for the top six students in each class. Chuck is a member of the Monogram Club. He was voted president his junior year. Chuck has participated in three sports: football, basketball, and base- ball. For the past two years he has been voted captain of the football squad by his fellow players and all-conference by the conference coaches. He has been as asset to the team in all three of these sports. After his graduation. Chuck plans to attend Davidson, where he will go into pre-medicine. MARY ANN SORRELL One of the most outstanding persons in the class of ' 66 is Mary Ann Sorrell. There is hardly an end to the many things she has done to deserve this description. Besides always being ready to give a helping hand, no matter what the task to do done, she has also taken part in many clubs and extra-curricular activities during the past foiu ' years. Among them are the following: F.H. A., of which she was treasurer and vice-president; F.T.A., president; Beta Club, treasurer; Student Council and Monogram Club. For two years she has been cheering, having become chief cheerleader her se- nior year, Mary Ann has received many honors, all based on scholastic abilities. She was chief marshal her junior year, waitress at the Junior-Senior Prom, and attended the scholarship banquet every year. She was chosen Most Intellectual in senior superlatives, Mary Ann plans to attend Peace College, where she will transfer to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and major in Home Economics, As anyone can see Mary Ann is trrily an outstanding person with a high scholastic average. We wish her success at what she undertakes. -A. «J xniors life is vetrieci . . .
