JOYCE HARGIS and BARBARA CREECH students at Cedar Hill 964 uA nddU Hie ie oAe ikc GILDA COX Gilda Coxhasbeen a truly outstanding member of the senior class. She has maintained a top scholastic average during all four years of high school, and has been active in extracurricular matters, too. Gilda has been a member of these clubs: the F. H. A. Club; the Glee Club; and the Beta Club, serving as its secretary her senior year. During her jrmior year, Gilda played a part in the junior play, The Boarding House Reach, and served as a marshal at graduation exer- cises. She has attended the scholastic banquet each year. Although Gilda loves sports and has been a member of the girls ' basketball team, her plans for the future are to attend East Carolina College, where she will study to become a math teacher. JANET DENNING Janet Denning, a high-stepping band majorette, has earned many honors, scholastic and otherwise. In her senior year, she was president of the Future Teachers of America Club, and was selected by her classmates as the best-looking senior girl. Janet has belonged to the F. H. A. and Glee Clubs, also. As a junior, Janet received three special honors: she attended the scholarship banquet for the second time; she was elected Homecoming Queen; and was one of the marshals at graduation exercises. After g r a dua t i on, Janet ' s plans include attending St. Andrews College, to major in English. ELAINE PARKER Elaine Parker hasbeen, perhaps, the most active of thisyear ' s class of seniors. Her activities during her four years in high school have included membership in these clubs: the Monogram Club; the F. T. A. Club, serving as its secretary her junior year; the Glee Club; the F. H. A. Club; and the Beta Club. As a junior, Elaine served as a marshal at graduation exercises, and as a senior, she was elected Homecoming Queen by the student body. Also, during her senior year, Elaine was chief cheerleader, and was voted the best dressed girl in the senior class. In spite of so many extracurricular activities, Elaine ' s grades have remained high; each year she has attended the scholastic banquet. Elaine ' s future plans are to attend St. Marys ' s College, where she will major in math. Later, she will transfer to the University of North Carolina. Whatever she doe s, Elaine is sure to be a success. 94 wJm oM LINDA SNIPES Linda Snipes is another girl whose high school record speaks for itself. Dempsey has served as president of the Citizenship Council, been a member of the Glee Club, and has attended Boys ' State. He also played an important role in the junior play. Dempsey ' s grades have always remained high. As a sophomore, he was a waiter at the Junior-Senior Prom, an honor he received be- cause of his high grades.
