On that long awaited night, June 3, 269 Benson High seniors walked across the stage of Technical High School to receive their diplomas from John S. Engdahl, president of the Board of Education. Seven others graduated in January. Official senior activities began taking shape in February with the election of class officers. Richard Chapman won the post of senior class president. The office of vice president was filled by Jack Talsma, and the duties of the s-ecretary came to Marilyn Stride. Treasurer Jerry Warner handled the money for the rental of caps and gowns and col- lected the money for banquet expenses. The Great American Pastime was the theme for the senior banquet, May 14, at the Fontenelle Hotel. President Chapman served as toastmaster and Jack Talsma gave the Address of Welcome. Batter Up was the title of the toast given by Pamela Krueger. In the toasts entitled Rounding the Bases,', Sandra Speicher gave Safe on First, Sliding into Second, and Darlyne Willhardt presented Rounding Third, Crossing Home Plate. A bit of comedy was injected by Myrna Olson and Simon Simon in 'lHits-Runs-Errors. Sharon Erickson spoke on the World Seri-es. Principal Earl H. Schroer concluded the program with What's the Score? On the following day, May 15, the seniors accepted a legal holiday. Rev. Walter H. Traub held Baccalaureate services at 11:00 A.M., May 31, at Kountze Memorial Church for the graduating seniors. Miss Ehrma Donley, Miss Marjorie Floerchinger, Charles C.
