Throughout disturbances such as measuring for caps and gowns and collecting banquet money, our sponsors, Miss Ehrma Donley, Miss Gertrude Dieterichs, Mrs. Blanche Swan, and Miss Marjorie Floerchinger kept order in homeroom. Their suggestions on conduct- ing senior elections and the senior banquet helped us to get the most out of our senior vear. Twenty-five years ago on June 14, the junior-Senior banquet theme was The Stage . This year on May 28, following a journalistic theme entitled Special Editionu, Managing Editor ftoastmasterj Joe Hanna introduced the publishers Ingrid Swerre and Bob Edson who spoke on l'The 10 Best News Stories. Next on the program were Reporters Miriam Wyrens and Phil Patterson who talked on Nose for Newsf' Brick-bats and Bouquetsu by janet Woods and Wendell Walker followed. Completing the program was Cover your Beat by Editor-in-chief Earl Schroer. The next day found Benson giving out with a more subdued air as the seniors blissfully accepted a legal skip day. Baccalaureate was held June 1 at Dundee Presbyterian Church with Robert Scanland ad- dressing the graduates. The Benson high school auditorium was the scene of graduation for the 15 members of the class of '27, Times have changed and the classes have grown so that this year Benson's 265 seniors will graduate in the larger Technical high school auditorium. The pages of the history book are closed, but only figuratively. For the senior class will never forget its four wonderful years in high school. May Benson high school long remember the class of 52. ri'-'ffl Ml FALK, SWERRE, YELICK, EDSON-READY TO FACE THE WORLD Class of '52 History has been made at Fifty-second and Maple streets. This year, l952, marks the silver anniversary of the school's existance and the graduation of the freshman class of 1948. Benson has changed since 1926. Her growth in athletics, enrollment, activities, scholar- ship, and importance has paved a path of success in her history books. How could four years have gone so fast? But it really was fun! Maybe not the final exams, the term papers, the Senior English and math tests or the tuberculosis skin test but the gym revues, plays, activities programs, athletic contests, military balls, and the Friday mornings when the Newt came out made life at Benson seem wonderful. First under the heading Class of l952 in Bensonls annals is the senior election. Boosting their parties by handing out pamphlets, donuts, flowers, caps, and namecards, the 6 tickets fcarried on a vigorous three-day campaign. When the votes were counted, Bob Falk became president of the class. Bob Edson won the second spot as vice president. Ingrid Swerre and Roxanne Yelick were chosen secretary and treasurer. We had hardly caught our breath from the elections when the campaign for the Cupola sales got underway. The efforts of everyone concerned combined to send the scale over the 1200 mark to top the school's enrollment of ll93. This excitement had hardly died when we elected Beverly Campbell and Ronald Smith the Kathleen and Patrick of our class, and chose Ann Andreasen the Benson Lions Queen.
