For future teachers of America, this organization is designed to prepare its members for their later roles in life. During the course of the year, many teachers and student teachers spoke to the F.T. A. of their experiences in college and as teachers. They tried to give some insight into what ingredients it takes to be successful at teaching and to be able to work with young people. These sessions enabled members to ask many of the questions they wanted answered about the profession. In the fall some F.T. A. members had the opportunity to go to a workshop at St. Cloud State College. There they spent a day hearing various speakers, dividing into buzz sessions that discussed one course of study, and touring the campus grounds. » This year a new project of exchanging students of Benson High School with students be- longing to F.T. A. in another school, was started. The five students who went, stayed with their hosts for two days. During these same two days, they sent their students to spend two days at B. H. S. The representatives attended classes and also went to the game or dance that was held that Friday night. A program in which F.T. A. members worked with Junior High Students to help them with their various problems and schoolwork, was also set up on a voluntary basis. This proved to be very good experience for everyone who participated in it. And of course, as in past years, these students accepted the task of being teacher's aids; that is doing chores such as correcting papers and typing various forms or tests. Most students agree on looking back over this past year that it was a worthwhile and fun organization. 13
